Salomon Velasquez is the owner and lead architect of VMS Architects LLC, a distinguised architectural firm based in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Born and raised in New Mexico, Salomon has a deep understanding and appreciation for the region's rich architectural history, including Pueblo, Territorial, and Northern New Mexico pitched roof styles. With a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from the University of New Mexico (2000) and a Master of Architecture from UC Berkeley (2003), Salomon brings over 20 years of experience to the art and science of architecture.​
Salomon has been dedicated to creating both traditional and contemporary homes that pay tribute to the traditions, cultures, and landscapes of the Southwest. Although he has extensive experience in commercial projects, his passion lies in residential architecture with special attention to fine craftsmanship and detailed construction. His portfolio boasts an array of award-winning residential designs that seamlessly blend into the natural beauty of the region.​

"Ever since childhood, I have envisioned becoming an architect, a dream that I shared with my father, who ran his own construction company. Early on, I became familiar with residential and commercial architecture, time management, and all facets of construction, from preparing a building site to every last finished detail. The joy and gratitude of the client when their project was completed were incredibly rewarding. As an adult and licensed architect, this dream has come to fruition for me.

Like my father, I understand New Mexico's unique blend of history, culture, and people. Unparalleled to most of the country, it is here that I aim to disseminate and expand the artistic ideals of my culture and heritage to create dream homes for my clients. I strive to ensure that New Mexico's stunning landscape becomes an integral part of the architecture, preserving its essence amidst the modern, often non-vernacular designs that dominate contemporary development.

On a personal front, I am a proud parent of five children. They inspire me every day and are a driving force behind my commitment to creating a better life and a better world for future generations. When not working, I love engaging in outdoor activities with them. As an avid outdoorsman, I enjoy camping, hiking, skiing, hunting, fishing, and playing almost any sport. I love attending my kids' games, attending operas, ballets, and art exhibits with my wife of 21 years. I believe that Santa Fe's landscape and diversity in the arts are unique and offer a wide array of activities within a short drive, making it a fantastic place to call home. Over the past 20 years, I am pleased to say that I have helped many people not only design and build their dream but call New Mexico their home."
